Melismatic Media was borne out of a lifelong adoration of the musical arts. I grew up surrounded by it—the sound of classical compositions echoing through my home, the hours of practice, the beauty I observed those around me create through sound.

I first saw music as a connection that spans the generations of my family; my mother, an extraordinary pianist who only seems to be improving with time, my sister, a classically trained clarinetist with a PhD in Performance, and my grandfather, who was a local legend in Chicago for his brass prowess.

I grew up inside that current. By the time I was old enough to reach the keys, I was playing piano, and soon after balalaika, guitar, and any percussive instrument I could get my hands on. I knew music as a language the human tongue could not master, and I sought comprehension desperately. Later, as a sound technician and producer, I carried that ear into the modern studio, creating and mixing tracks through my school’s music program.

That foundation is what I carry into Melismatic Media. My background in journalism and writing has given me the tools to investigate and articulate, while my lifelong immersion in the fine arts has given me the lens through which I see the world. Here, I bring those two threads together: reporting with clarity, but always with the ear of someone who grew up listening, learning, and playing within the classical tradition.

This space is where I follow the pulse of the arts world. My goal is to make fine arts coverage feel immediate and alive: informative, yes, but also textured, dynamic, and resonant; a melismatic blend of media.
